Editorial Policy
Visitus publishes original English-language Portugal travel content written with a human editorial voice, practical detail and respect for local context.
The editorial process favors durable advice, named entities, official sources for changeable details, clear FAQs and transparent authorship.
Pages are reviewed for spam, thin content, broken links, intrusive ads and misleading claims before publication.
Every guide is written or reviewed by Sofia Almeida and is based, wherever possible, on places she has visited, food she has eaten and transit routes she has used. When a detail comes from somewhere other than direct experience, such as an opening time, a ferry schedule or a current price, we trace it to an official or primary source and link that source at the foot of the page so readers can verify it themselves.
We fact-check the changeable details that travelers actually rely on. Before publishing, an editor confirms that named places exist and are open, that prices and schedules are current at the time of writing, and that links resolve to the correct page. Claims we cannot stand behind are removed rather than hedged.
When we get something wrong, we fix it. Readers can flag an error through our contact form, and we aim to review and, where warranted, correct or update the page within seven days. Substantive corrections are made openly in the text rather than quietly removed, and each guide displays the date of its last meaningful update.
Affiliate links and any sponsored content are disclosed clearly and are never allowed to decide what we cover or how we describe it. Recommendations reflect usefulness to the reader, not commercial benefit to us.
Some illustrations on the site are generated with AI tools to depict a scene or a mood; these are used for atmosphere, not as documentary evidence of a specific place, and real photography is credited on our photo credits page. We refresh time-sensitive guides at least once a year, and sooner when readers tell us something has changed. Complaints or disputes about our coverage are acknowledged within seven days and resolved as promptly as we can.
